From Southern Italy to Bucks County

Maria's parents came from Southern Italy in 1971 and opened their first shop with a simple mission: bring authentic Italian food and culture to their new community. What started as a small meat market has grown into a thriving business with locations in Warminster and Doylestown, employing roughly 250 people and serving generations of customers.

The journey wasn't without its challenges, but the Nappi family's commitment to quality, tradition, and treating customers like family has been the foundation of their success.

The Butcher's Daughter: A Cookbook and a Legacy

Maria co-authored "The Butcher's Daughter" cookbook with her mother, Franca Grispino, a project that captures over 100 family recipes from their Italian market and kitchen. The cookbook represents more than just recipes—it's a preservation of culinary traditions passed down through generations and a celebration of the immigrant experience.

Through their cookbook and daily operations, Maria and her family continue to educate customers about authentic Italian ingredients, cooking techniques, and the importance of gathering around the table.

Building Community Through Food

Altomonte's isn't just a place to shop—it's become a gathering spot for the Bucks County community. From their scratch-baked goods to award-winning deli selections and expertly cut meats, every aspect of the business reflects the family's dedication to bringing people closer to Italy and each other through food.

Maria shares how they've navigated the challenges of scaling a family business while maintaining the personal touch that made them successful in the first place. With multiple locations and hundreds of employees, keeping that family atmosphere and commitment to quality remains their top priority.

What It Takes to Sustain a Multi-Generational Business

Running a family business comes with unique challenges—balancing tradition with innovation, managing family dynamics in a professional setting, and ensuring the next generation is prepared to carry the torch. Maria offers insights into how they've maintained their vision while adapting to changing customer needs and market conditions.

The Nappi family's story is a testament to what's possible when you combine hard work, authenticity, and a genuine commitment to serving your community.
